CURIOUS fact of the week is that Irish people wear more Dr Martens per capita (or should that be per pedis?) than anyone else in the world. The Pope, it seems, recently bought two pairs, but presumably he wears the black sensible version of the classic boot and not any of the more outrageous ones that stomped down the catwalk in the POD in Dublin on Thursday night.

Favourites in this season's range include neon velvet boots, leopard print shoes and Docs covered in funky holograms. The extremely lively fashion show produced by Enda McGrattan was also a fun launch for a new drink called inexplicably Smirnoff Mule which is (and I apologise if you're reading this very early on Saturday morning) a mix of vodka, ginger beer and lime.

The Head To Toe team, including presenter Jennifer Keegan and her boyfriend sculptor Gary Coyle, took the opportunity to have their wrap party on the night as they have finished filming the current series. Video editor Hugh Chaloner was there with his wife, Guinness marketing guru Shona O'Neill, who looked amazing on her first outing since the birth of their daughter Kaytlin.
