Wexford footballer to tour with All-Stars

Wexford footballer Leigh O'Brien was today named as an All Star replacement for next month's tour to the United States.

The All-Star nominee is one of six players called into the touring party for the exhibition match between the 2001 and 2002 selections in San Diego on January 18th.

All-Ireland champions Armagh now have seven representatives in the squad after goalkeeper Benny Tierney also received a late call-up.

The other players drafted in are: David Mitchell (Westmeath), Gareth Doherty (Derry), Chris Lawn (Tyrone) and Tipperary sharp shooter Declan Browne.

Longford's John Bannon has been chosen to referee the game.

The teams, managed by Armagh's Joe Kernan and John O'Mahony of Galway, depart from Dublin on January 15th and return one week later.
