Liverpool goalkeeper Sander Westerveld has rejected a loan move to Spanish side Alaves.
The Primera Liga club, who were memorably beaten 5-4 by Liverpool in last season's UEFA Cup final, had hoped to sign the Dutchman on a short-term deal until December.
Westerveld, who is looking for a new club after slipping down the pecking order at Anfield, however turned down the switch preferring instead to look for a permanent move.
Westerveld lost his status as first-choice keeper at Anfield following the double signings of Jerzy Dudek and Chris Kirkland earlier this month. - PA
