West Ham have confirmed their interest in signing Leeds midfielder Lee Bowyer.
Signing a striker remains the priority for Hammers manager Glenn Roeder, whose side are bottom of the Barclaycard Premiership.
But Bowyer (26) is available having turned down a loan move to Birmingham last week.
West Ham's managing director Paul Aldridge said: "There have been no conversations with Leeds yet, and our priority is to sign a forward.

"But that's not to say that we aren't interested in signing a quality player like Lee.
"People within football know he's available and that he is not going to re-sign for Leeds."
Bowyer's current contract at Elland Road expires in the summer.
