Irish Ferries has said ferry sailings from Rosslare to France have been cancelled until Tuesday. Passengers are being redirected via Pembroke and should contact Irish Ferries for details.
The holiday season may be in full swing but the weekend weather is not likely to cause traffic jams on the way to beaches. But hail, rain or shine, the Galway
Arts Festival continues until Sunday, with traffic likely to be heavy in Galway city centre.
Three sports fixtures are likely to affect traffic. The Kilkenny-Galway hurling match takes place on Sunday in Thurles, Co Tipperary. Iarnrod Eireann has put on special trains: there will be a 9.10 a.m. train from Galway to
Thurles, returning to Galway at 6.45 p.m., and a 6.15 p.m. train from Thurles to
Dublin.
Tipperary play Down in Clones, Co Monaghan, on Saturday afternoon and on
Sunday, in Croke Park, there is an American football game and show from 5 p.m.
AA Roadwatch has advised that ESAT Telecom's ducting work in Dublin city centre will again affect Lincoln Place, Sandwith Street, Creighton Street, City
Quay, George's Street, Leinster Street, Nassau Street, Suffolk Street, College
Green, Westmoreland Street, Fleet Street, D'Olier Street and Burgh Quay.
Also in Dublin, there is only one lane in use and there are temporary traffic lights due to roundabout construction on the Milltown Road and Maple Road. There is also only one lane in use on the Rochestown Road.
Westbound traffic on the Lucan bypass, between the Deadman's Inn and the
Fonthill junction, is subject to a contraflow system and on the Lucan Road eastbound traffic will be diverted onto the new ramp of the Quarryvale interchange until September.
There are roadworks on the median M50 to the Lucan interchange. These will continue until December.
There are major roadworks five miles south of Balbriggan due to the construction of a bypass.
On Dublin's southside, Beaver Row remains closed and motorists travelling between Clonskeagh and Donnybrook are advised to use Eglinton Road or Belmont
Avenue. The one-way system remains on the Leopardstown Road and traffic travelling from the Brewery Road roundabout to White's Cross should use Brewery
Road and the N11.
Delays of up to an hour at peak times can be expected on the N3 in Meath, two miles on the Dublin side of Dunshaughlin. Delays are also expected due to gasworks on the Clane Road in Co Kildare, on the Sallins side of Clane.
Traffic travelling eastwards on the Athlone bypass is restricted to a single lane and traffic will be disrupted on the N55 from the Cavan-Granard road between Ballinagh and Killydoon due to roadworks.
In Cork city, there are Telecom works on the Wilton Road. Resurfacing of the
Ballyvourney to the Kerry county bounds road will lead to delays for five weeks.
There is a contra-flow in operation and motorists are advised to take extra care.
In Co Donegal, there are environmental improvement works on Main Street,
Ballybofey, until the end of next month.
