A wedding guest who claimed a car ran over his ankle as guests waited outside the church has been told by a judge he had "maximised a very slight incident".

Judge Liam Devally told 26-year-old sales assistant Darren O'Reilly that he was bothered by the evasive way he had gone on about whether or not his soccer hobby had been ended by the accident.

He also described evidence by Mr O'Reilly's sister, Audrey, of "reckless" driving in the churchyard of between 15 and 20 miles an hour as having been grossly exaggerated.

Darren O'Reilly, of the Court, Bolton Street, Dublin, had sued Mrs Marie Smith for up to £30,000 damages for personal injuries arising out of the incident at St Agnes Church, Crumlin.
