Juventus have revealed they targeted Celtic striker Henrik Larsson as the replacement for Zinedine Zidane.
The Italian giants' coach Giancarlo Corradini watched the Parkhead side inflict a 4-0 defeat on Dundee last night before making the admission.
Juventus sold the French midfielder to Real Madrid in a £48million world record move, but the Turin outfit were thwarted when Celtic's Swedish star signed a new contract until 2004.
Corradini told the Sunday Mail: "I'm sure we would have given Zidane to have Larsson in the team.
"He is the complete goalscorer and the fact he finished top scorer in Europe last year says everything about his quality.
"Larsson is definitely the greatest threat to us but there is no doubting he has the quality to be successful in Serie A."
