Waterford United intend placing an advertisement in national newspapers tomorrow for the position of first-team manager, ireland.comhas learned.
Waterford players Brendan Rea and Paul Scully, who took charge of the First Division side for last Friday's draw with Dublin City after Paul Power resigned two days previously, have not yet decided whether they will apply for the position.
"We have already had five phone calls about the job since last week, some of which are quite interesting," Waterford chairman Ger O'Brien said today.
"What we will be looking at, even more than his coaching skills and past record, is what type of person he is - he'll have to be someone with sound communication skills and an appreciation of the direction this club wants to go in. We don't want the same situation as last week happening again in six months time".
O'Brien also indicated some of the coaching staff who resigned with Power may be interested in returning to the club, adding: "I think that rather than have one full-time manager and four part-time coaches, we'll aim to have just two or three full-timers".
