Warren expects McCullough ban to be lifted

Frank Warren today said he expected the ban on Wayne McCullough boxing in Britain to be lifted.

Frank Warren today said he expected the ban on Wayne McCullough boxing in Britain to be lifted.

Warren has pencilled in McCullough for a return to British boxing on June 8th in Glasgow as part of the supporting bill to Scott Harrison's shot at WBO featherweight champion Juan Pablo Chacon.

Warren said: "Wayne has applied to the Northern Ireland Area Council of the British Board and I expect him to get the all-clear. Hopefully he will fight in Glasgow and I would like to match him with the winner of Harrison and Chacon later this year".

McCullough has been battling with the board for over two years to get permission to box again in Britain following the detection of a cyst near his brain.

He has since been cleared in the United States and returned to the ring earlier this year having been licensed by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

"I certainly feel that Wayne has the ability to be world champion again," Warren said.
