A warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Chinese woman whose Irish company is in liquidation, the High Court was told yesterday.
Mr Justice Quirke heard it is believed Ms Liu Hui has returned to China.
The liquidator of Shamrock Language School Ltd (in liquidation), which was set up to teach English to foreign nationals, primarily from China, has told the court he believes some €1 million has been repatriated to China for the benefit of Ms Liu.
Ms Liu had a residence at Oakdale Park, Ballycullen, Dublin, but that premises has been recently been sold.
She was due to appear before the District Court yesterday in relation to an alleged failure to keep proper accounts.
In the High Court yesterday afternoon Mr Ross Maguire, for the liquidator of Shamrock Language School Ltd, Mr Barry Forrest, told Mr Justice Quirke that Ms Liu had failed to turn up for the court hearing and a warrant had been issued for her arrest.
The judge granted an interlocutory injunction, which continues until the hearing of the action, restraining Ms Liu from reducing her assets in this country below €400,000.
Ms Liu and Mr Soi Ming Hoang were both directors of Shamrock Language School.
The school charged an enrolment fee of over €3,000 and organised visas for students coming to Ireland which allowed them to work.
In court yesterday Mr Maguire said his injunction application was against Ms Liu only.
The liquidator told the court that he believed the school was used as a front to get people into Ireland to work.
Many of the students who had enrolled indicated that they had not attended the school.
It seemed that no proper books or accounts were kept. Ms Liu was directed to appear before the District Court based on her failure as a director to keep adequate company accounts.
