Icy conditions overnight created treacherous driving conditions in many areas this morning with counties Kildare, Clare, Wexford, Wicklow, Roscommon and Galway particularly affected.
While most of the ice has now thawed, a number of routes remain impassable due to flooding, according to AA Roadwatch.
These include the N18 Galway to Ennis Rd which remains closed between Gort and Ardrahan in Co Galway due to flooding.
Motorists are advised to divert via Craughwell and Loughrea. AA Roadwatch is advising this will add at least 40 minutes to journey times. Crowe Street in Gort remains impassable.
AA Roadwatch also warned of treacherous driving conditions this morning with icy road conditions reported in many areas. In Wicklow, motorists have been advised to avoid the Sally Gap and Roundwood areas, with reports of icy conditions on the N81 in Blessington.
In Co Leitrim, motorists on the N4 Dublin to Sligo road are being diverted through Carrick-on-Shannon due to flooding. Drivers are urged to avoid Leitrim town.
In Dublin water levels are falling in the Strawberry Beds in Lucan, although the road from Tinkers Hill to Rugged Lane remains impassable.
Dart services between Bray and Greystones have been suspended due to an overhead line fault at Greystones and bus transfers are in operation.
