The Indian innings ended when Mohammad Kaif, who was batting with a runner, was run out for 64 after he collapsed mid-pitch with cramp.
Kaif, who completed his maiden test half century in the morning, did not return immediately after lunch but came out with the runner after the ninth wicket fell.
The 23-year-old shared in a record 102-run seventh wicket stand with wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel (54) in the first session.
Opener Virender Sehwag topscored for the hosts with 155 on Friday.
