Victim of Patrick's Day attack dies

A man aged 27 has died of injuries he sustained in a vicious attack in Antrim in the early hours of St Patrick's Day

A man aged 27 has died of injuries he sustained in a vicious attack in Antrim in the early hours of St Patrick's Day. Ryan Neill, from the Hollowburn Road area, was found by an RUC patrol near Madden's Bar in the town. He had suffered severe head injuries and never regained consciousness.

Two men have been charged with causing grievous bodily harm. Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man was recovering in hospital last night after being beaten with hammers by a gang in the Norglen Gardens area of west Belfast.

The victim had two broken legs and injuries to his head and face. Police are still trying to establish a motive for the attack.
