Veteran British comedian Bob Monkhouse has died at home at the age of 75.
Mr Monkhouse, who had battled cancer for over two years, died peacefully in his sleep with wife Jackie at his side.
Born in Kent on June 1st, 1928, he was one of British television's most prolific performers. Initially a stand-up comic, Monkhouse's early years were spent writing material for himself and other performers. Early in his career he wrote for Bob Hope, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.
Since then, he has performed with everyone from Morecambe and Wise to Jim Carrey.
But he will be remembered for his TV career which spanned over 40 years and particularly his participation in such shows as Family Fortunes, $64,000 Question, Bob's Full Houseand Bob Says Opportunity Knocks .He also starred in several films, including Carry On Sergeant, Dentist in the Chair,and Weekend with Lulu.
