Former Netherlands and Barcelona coach Louis van Gaal has been linked with a move to fill the vacant managerial post at Fulham, according to reports today.

The London club are currently seeking a replacement for Frenchman Jean Tigana who was relieved of his post earlier this month. Similarly, van Gaal was also sacked by Spanish giants Barcelona earlier this season.

According to the Independent newspaper in Britain van Gaal met with officials from the Premiership club in Amsterdam yesterday.

Chris Coleman was installed as Tigana's temporary replacement until the end of the season. It was expected Tigana would have held out until then but circumstances changed after Fulham's recent decline in form in the league.

Edwin van der Saar also hinted at van Gaal's desire to manage in the Premiership. "I talked with Louis van Gaal, and he said to me, the Premier League is one of the biggest and best competitions in the world," said the Dutch number one.

Other names thrown into the hat include George Burley, currently on a temporary contract at Derby, and Nottingham Forest boss Paul Hart.
