Bonn - German media reported yesterday that Bonn's ambassador to Sudan had said in a report to the foreign ministry that the factory hit by US missile strikes was, contrary to US claims, not manufacturing chemical weapons. The news magazines, Spiegel and Focus, and the newspaper, Welt am Sonntag, said the ambassador, Mr Werner Daum, had compiled the report on the evening of the August 7th attack. The magazine reports were released ahead of publication today.
Sudan's Foreign Minister, Mr Mustafa Osman Ismail, said yesterday his country had no business or political links with Osama bin Laden, the Saudi-born dissident accused of masterminding the bomb attacks on two US embassies in east Africa.
