A US helicopter was shot down over Falluja today as US-led forces were pressing home an offensive on the rebel-held city.
"I saw the helicopter collide with a rocket. It turned into a ball of fire and fell to the ground," said Reuters reporter Fadel al-Badrani. "There was smoke everywhere."
He said the helicopter crashed in the city's Jolan district. There was no immediate word on casualties.
However, the US military denied the report. "There was no Multi-National Force-Iraq helicopter shot
down," it said in a statement.
