Up to 12 people were arrested during rioting in the Holylands area of south Belfast today.
Police were called to the area at about 3.00pm following reports that a car had been vandalised Carmel Street.
Hundreds of people attending St Patrick's Day house parties in the area had spilled out on the streets, and a small minority threw bottles and other missiles at riot police.
PSNI officers remain in the area, which is mainly populated by students.
