Tottenham Hotspur 3 Manchester United 5
United won with one of the all-time great comebacks after trailing 3-0 at halftime.
Dean Richards marked his debut with a goal, stooping to head home a Christian Ziege corner after 15 minutes, Les Ferdinand beat the offside trap to make it 2-0 and the United defence was nowhere to be seen again in first-half injury time as an unmarked Christian Ziege headed the third.
United, with only one win from their last 14 away games in all competitions, roared back after the break as headers from Andy Cole, Laurent Blanc and Ruud van Nistelrooy levelled it after 72 minutes.
United were in total command by then, and it was no surprise when Juan Veron shot them into the lead two minutes later, David Beckham adding the icing on the cake just before the end.
Bolton Wanderers 0 Sunderland 2
The game turned on a missed penalty in the 64th minute, Sunderland keeper Thomas Sorensen saving brilliantly from Per Frandsen after Ricardo Gardner had been fouled in the box.
Kevin Phillips, who had hit the post when faced with an open goal after half an hour, but made amends in the 77th minute to put the visitors ahead.
Jody Craddock grabbed Sunderland's second with a header nine minutes from time.
Charlton Athletic 2 Leicester City 0
A controversial game containing two red cards ended with Leicester's 15th away defeat in 16 games.
Charlton had Steve Brown sent off in bizarre circumstances after 25 minutes. The defender fell to the ground injured, handling the ball in the process, and was shown the red card as he was carried off on a stretcher .
It got weirder after 40 minutes as Leicester's Junior Lewis followed him for an apparent elbow seen by nobody in the stadium apart from the linesman.
As the dust settled, Chris Powell broke and crossed for Jonatan Johansson to head Charlton into the lead in the 45th minute.
Leicester manager Peter Taylor could be in trouble after angrily confronting the referee at halftime, and his miserable day was completed when Shaun Bartlett tapped in the second in the 56th minute.
Derby County 0 Arsenal 2
Arsenal stared well and Thierry Henry clipped a free-kick over the wall to put them ahead after 20 minutes.
Martin Keown was sent off in the 58th minute for his second booking, but Arsenal went further ahead minutes later with a penalty by Henry, harshly awarded against goalkeeper Andy Oakes after a collision with Nwankwo Kanu.
Despite their numerical disadvantage, Arsenal cruised home.
Everton 5 West Ham United 0
Everton ended a run of four consecutive defeats with a victory earned largely by a great second-half show.
Paul Gascoigne, who started his first game for 10 months last week, was taken off injured after 10 minutes but was unhappy with the decision, rowing with the physio as he left the pitch.
After an even opening 45 minutes, Kevin Campbell put Everton ahead in first half injury time, heading home a Niclas Alexandersson cross.
An own goal by former Everton midfielder Don Hutchison made it 2-0 early in the second half and the Merseysiders then ran riot.
Thomas Gravesen ran half the pitch before blasting in the third, poor goalkeeping by Shaka Hislop let Steve Watson get the fourth and Tomasz Radzinski got his first for the club to cap a fantastic second-half display.
Middlesbrough 1 Southampton 3
James Beattie put Southampton ahead after 67 minutes after good work by Wayne Bridge, and after Pahars was brought down by Curtis Fleming in the box the Latvian made it 2-0 from the spot in the 73rd minute.
An Alen Boksic penalty briefly gave Boro hope but Beattie killed the game with an exquisite curler to make it 3-1 five minutes from time.
