Manchester United insist record £28.1 million sterling signing Juan Veron does not have an opt-out clause in his contract.

It has been reported that Veron has a clause that would enable him to quit Old Trafford in the summer with Barcelona being touted as a possible destination.

However, United say Veron does not have any such option. United's director of communications Paddy Harverson said: "There is no get-out clause".

Veron has been part of the United side that has produced a series of poor results this term, and he was ineffective during Sunday's 3-1 defeat at Arsenal.
