Brighton - Britain's trade union movement yesterday warned the Prime Minister, Mr Blair, of strike action if he went ahead with plans to privatise public services.
Mr John Monks, General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), threatened industrial action if public sector workers lost out in pay and conditions through the transfer of their jobs to private companies. The warning, on the eve of the TUC's annual conference, threatened to provoke a row with the government at the meeting, which Mr Blair and the Trade Secretary, Ms Patricia Hewitt, are to address.
