The main United Nations agency in Gaza is evacuating most foreign staff, citing security reasons, after Israel expanded a month-long incursion in the northern part of the coastal strip, a spokesman said today.
The relief agency UNRWA, which cares for Palestinian refugees, said it was pulling out another 19 staff, in addition 20 ordered out last month, leaving only nine foreign workers in Gaza. The move comes against a backdrop of recent internal unrest in the Strip.
