Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko left Kiev on Saturday for Moscow, where she will hold talks with Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin on solving a row which has cut gas supplies to part of Europe, the press service of the Ukrainian government said.

Confirmation of the Ukrainian premier's departure was significant because diplomats believe Tymoshenko is unlikely to travel to Russia without a strong prospect of achieving results in the gas row.

The Ukrainian government's website also said that Tymoshenko would meet Russian Finance Minister Alexei Kudrin.
