The Ulster Democratic Party has appealed to the leadership of the UFF to withdraw its recent threat to call off its ceasefire if alleged attacks on Protestant homes did not stop.
The UDP chairman, Mr John White, said his party had attempted to arrange dialogue with nationalist community workers in north and west Belfast to defuse tensions in the areas.
The Sinn Fein MLA for North Belfast, Mr Gerry Kelly, has accused the UDP of trying to give credibility to the UFF threat. He was, however, "somewhat encouraged" that the UDP was now addressing the matter with the UFF leadership, he added.
