TWO south Armagh men accused of being members of a gang which killed a Newry postal worker, Mr Frank Kerr (54), have gone on trial in Belfast.
The Northern Ireland Lord Chief Justice, Sir Brian Hutton, was told Mr Kerr, shot once in the neck, had "shown extreme courage" in attempting to foil a £131,000 armed raid on November 10th, 1994.
Mr Declan McComish (28), of Regina Park, Jonesborough and Mr Kevin Patrick Donegan (39), of Bayview, Jonesborough, are denying Mr Kerr's murder and involvement in the six man armed raid.
The court was told that while Mr McComish and Mr Donegan refused to answer questions following their arrest they provided prepared statements to detectives after talking to their lawyers.
