Two more people have died in overnight crashes to bring to four the number of road fatalities in the State since Friday.
A man (22) was killed when the car he was driving went off the road at Forge Cross outside Rathmore, Co Kerry, on the main Mallow to Killarney Road (N72) at around 10pm last night.
Gardaí believe the man - who is from the Ballydaly area near Millstreet - was travelling west towards Killarney when the crash happened. Gardaí and emegency services attended, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was later removed to hospital for a postmortem.
Gardaí in Kantuck have appealed to anyone who may have travelled the road between 9.30pm and 10pm and witnessed anything to contact them on 029-50002.
Elsewhere, a man (40) died after his car hit a wall at 3.40am at at Aughrim, Co.Wicklow.
The victim, who was alone in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to St. Columcille’s Hospital. Loughlinstown, for a postmortem.
Roads at both crash scenes were closed for Garda investigations.
Early on Saturday morning the body of a man in his 40s was discovered in Co Donegal on the carriageway of the N15 at Parkhill, about one mile from Ballyshannon town. Gardaí suspect he was the victim of a "hit-and-run" incident.
On Friday, a man died in hospital following a serious single-vehicle crash on the N3 in Co Meath. The incident occurred at about 4.45am at Cooksland on the Dunshaughlin to Navan Road, about 1km outside Dunshaughlin.
