TWO MEN were last night charged with the murder of Rebecca French, a 30-year-old mother-of-two whose remains were found in the boot of her burned out car in Co Wexford last Friday afternoon.
A third man has been charged with impeding the murder investigation. The three appeared before Judge Donnchadh Ó Buachalla at a special sitting of Wexford District Court yesterday evening.
A large crowd gathered outside the courthouse and shouted at the men as they were being led away.
The two men charged with Ms French’s murder are Lithuanian nationals Ricardis Dilys (27) and Ruslanas Mineikis (25), both with an address at Davitt Road, Wexford. They have been charged with murdering Ms French, from Wexford town, at Ard Na Dara, Clonard, Wexford, last Friday.
Garda Seán Twomey told Judge Ó Buachalla that when he put the charge to Mr Mineikis he did not reply. Solicitor John O’Leary applied for free legal aid for Mr Mineikis, which was granted.
Solicitor John Garahy, for Mr Dilys, said his client had been living in Ireland for nine months and was not working. An application for free legal aid was granted.
Mr Dilys and Mr Mineikis were remanded in custody to appear before Cloverhill District Court, Dublin, next Friday, October 16th.
The third man before the court was Polish national Piotr Pasiak (26), of Lower John Street, Wexford. He is charged with intent to impede the murder investigation.
Garda Leonard Casey said when the charge was put to Mr Pasiak he had nothing to say. Solicitor Ed King, for Mr Pasiak, said his client had been in Ireland for over two years and was unemployed. The accused was granted free legal aid.
Insp Pat McDonald applied for a remand in custody because of the seriousness of the charge. Mr Pasiak will appear before Cloverhill District Court next Friday.
The three men were among six people arrested after Ms French’s remains were found at Ballindinas, Barntown, Co Wexford, last Friday. Two women arrested, one Irish and one Lithuanian, have been released without charge. A file is being prepared for the DPP. A Wexford man was still being questioned last night.
