Two men in their early 30s have been killed in separate road crashes in Cavan and Mayo.
A man died when the car he was a front seat passenger in collided with a second vehicle on the Swanlinbar to Ballyconnell Road at Derrynacreeve Cross at around 3.30am.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to Cavan General Hospital. There were four other people in the same car as the deceased - two men and two women - who were all taken to hospital in Enniskillen.
The driver and sole occupant of the second car was uninjured. The road is currently closed pending completion of an examination by Garda forensic officers and local diversions are in place.
Meanwhile gardaí are investigating a single-vehicle road crash in Ballyhaunis, Co Mayo in which one man died last night.
The incident occurred on the Claremorris to Ballyhaunis Road near Brickens at 9pm.
The victim in his early 30’s died when the car he was driving struck a wall. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no one else was injured.
He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body taken to Mayo General Hospital in Castlebar.
