Two people have lost their lives in early morning crashes in Roscommon and Carlow.
A motorist was killed when his car crashed in to a wall in Co Roscommon.
The man, in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene on the N61, Athlone to Roscommon road, at Lecarrow.
The victim was travelling on his own when the crash happened at 6am.
His body has been taken to Roscommon General Hospital where a post mortem is expected to take place.
Meanwhile, the N61 at Lecarrow has been closed and diversions are in place. The scene is being examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Gardaí at Roscommon have appealed for witnesses or anyone travelling on the road between 5am and 6am to come forward.
A teenager was also killed when his car veered off the road and hit a wall at around 6.25am in Co Carlow.
The motorist (17) was pronounced dead at scene of the crash, on the N9 at Bagenalstown.
His passenger, also aged 17, was taken to St Lukes General Hospital Kilkenny with minor injuries.
Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
The road has been closed which Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examine the scene. Diversions arein place.
