Two Co Clare men who pleaded guilty to possessing enough cannabis to produce more than 2,000 "cigarettes" and enough cash to buy a further 2,500 were given prison sentences at Ennis District Court yesterday.
Brothers Edward and Michael McDonagh, of John Paul Avenue, Ennis, were sentenced to 12 and six months respectively when they admitted having over 204.5g of cannabis and £2,686 in cash concealed in their home last June. Edward McDonagh admitted to gardai that he owned the drugs and cash and was arrested under Section 25 of the Misuse of Drugs Act. He was later released without charge.
Residents in Cloughleigh, Ennis, had complained to gardai several times about drug-dealing in the area and at the defendants' home.
