Two young Irishmen have died in separate drowning accidents abroad.
In Cyprus, a 23-year-old man has been found dead at a hotel swimming pool in the southern resort of Ayia Napa. He was named yesterday as Mr Frank O'Meara, Ballydonnell, Mullinahone, Co Tipperary.
He drowned in the pool of the Mirabella apartment complex. His body was discovered early yesterday. A post-mortem is being carried out, but foul play is not suspected.
The dead man's brother, Sean, a member of the Garda, was with him on the holiday, along with five other young men from Mullinahone.
His father, Eddie, is an Independent member of Tipperary County Council. The Department of Foreign Affairs said it had been in contact with the man's family here, and is providing consular assistance through the Irish Embassy in Nicosia.
Meanwhile, a 21-year-old Dundalk man drowned in the US on Monday in a river in Pennsylvania. He was named as Mr Graham Black, of Glenwood, Dublin Road. Mr Black was with three others when he drowned.
