Two members of the same family were arrested on drugs charges and appeared in Kilmainham District Court, Dublin, yesterday. Mr Laurence McGartland (31), of Weaver Square, Dublin, and his uncle, Mr Laurence Dunne (51), of Carrickmount Drive, Rathfarnham, Dublin, were both arrested at McGartland's home on Wednesday night and charged with possession and supply of cocaine. Det Garda Edel Histon told the court that the drug was worth some £5,000 on the street. Mr Dunne is also charged with assaulting a garda during the arrest.
Judge Gillian Hussey remanded Mr McGartland on bail to February 5th on condition he signs on daily at Kevin Street Garda station. When told Mr Dunne had refused to give an address when arrested, the judge remanded him in custody to January 13th to allow gardai check his address at Rathfarnham.
