Thai police have detained two men for questioning over the alleged sexual assault of two young Irish women on the resort island of Koh Samui, it has been reported.

the incident took place as the women, both 23, were walking home along the beach at about 4 a.m. local time yesterday.
It is believed they were attacked from behind by and dragged into undergrowth. The attackers eventually fled when disturbed by a passer-by.
One of the young women was hospitalised after the attack but was later released, and a police spokesman said both were feeling better.
The women were due to leave the island today but are now expected to have to try to identify their assailants at the police station.
One man was earlier questioned and later released without charge.
