Two held over Limerick murders

Two men have been arrested in connection with three separate murders in Limerick.

Two men have been arrested in connection with three separate murders in Limerick.

The men – aged 31 and 27 – were arrested this morning by gardaí investigating the killings of James Cronin, Shane Geoghegan and Roy Collins.

They are being held at Lucan Garda station under Section Four of the Criminal Justice Act.

Mr Cronin (20) was found by gardaí half buried in a field at Caledonian Park in April 2008. A postmortem concluded that he died from a single shotgun wound to his head.

Mr Geoghegan (28) was shot dead in a case of mistaken identity on November 9th last year as he made his way home from watching a rugby match with friends in Dooradoyle in Limerick.

A 24-year-old Dublin man has been charged with his murder and is due to stand trial at the Central Criminal Court next April.

Mr Collins, a 35-year-old father of two, was shot dead last April while working in the family run Coin Castle amusement arcade in Roxboro Shopping centre. One man has been charged with his murder.
