Two fishing vessels have been escorted into Castletownbere, Co Cork, after their detention by the Naval Service. The vessels, a French-registered Spanish craft and an Irish-registered boat, were both detained by the LE Orla under the command of Lieut Cmdr Adrian Sheedy for alleged logbook and other technical offences. The French-registered Spanish vessel, Sylvana, was apprehended 60 miles south-west of the Bull Rock, while the Irish vessel, Atlantic Mariner, was detained 30 miles south-west of the Skelligs on Tuesday night.
This brings to 13 the number of fishing vessels detained so far this year.
