Two women have died following separate road collisions in counties Cork and Waterford today.
In Co Waterford a woman (71) died after been struck by a car when out walking this evening.
The victim was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The incident happened on the Quay in Waterford City shortly after 6pm and gardaí have closed the scene pending a forensic investigation.

Earlier a 38-year old woman died after a freak accident when she was hit by a truck while crossing the street in Bantry in West Cork this evening.
The tragedy happened in the Slip area of Bantry at around 4.40pm when a parked truck rolled back after the driver had left the vehicle and hit the woman as she was crossing the road.
The woman - who is from the Bantry area - was pronounced dead at the scene and her body was removed to Bantry General Hospital.
Gardaí cordoned off the road at the Slip and garda forensic crash investigators began an examination of the scene.
