Two men have died in separate motorcycle accidents in the last 24 hours.
A man died after his motorcycle collided with a van on the N9 at Ballykeoghan, Co Kilkenny, at 2 p.m. yesterday.
The body was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital for a post-mortem. He has not yet been named. The driver of the van was treated for shock.
Elsewhere, a man (21) died after his motorbike collided with a car in Co. Monaghan this morning. The crash happened near Smithboro on the main Monaghan-to-Roslea road at 8.20 a.m.
The man was taken to Cavan General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact them at Monaghan Garda Station on 047-77200.
The number of people who have been killed on the roads this year stands at 243, compared with 228 at this time last year.
