Two men were killed early this morning in a two-vehicle road crash on the N20 at Pikes Cross, Ballyhea, Charleville in Co Cork.
The men, aged 60 and 36, were the drivers of two cars that collided at around 1am today. Their bodies have been removed to Cork University Hospital.
A female passenger in one car and a male passenger in the other received serious injuries. The woman was taken to Mallow General Hospital and the man has been taken to Cork University Hospital.
The road was closed earlier, as forensic crash scene investigators were at the scene, but it has now reopened.
Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact gardaí at Macroom on 022 31450.
The crash brings to six the number of people killed on the roads over the weekend.
Gardai today named the 27-year-old woman who was killed when she was knocked down by a car in Maynooth, Co Kildare last Saturday as woman Ellen Laurence. A woman was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving following the incident.
The man who was killed in a crash near Nenagh, Co Tipperary yesterday was named today as Raymond Kennedy (28) of, Carrig, Birr, Co Offaly.
