Two car crashes in Donegal and Galway

A young man was killed on Christmas night after visiting his girlfriend

A young man was killed on Christmas night after visiting his girlfriend. The man’s car left the road on a notorious stretch of bends in Co Donegal.

The man, named locally as Luke Peeks (26) from Upper Killian Road, Inver, was on his way home after visiting his girlfriend in Castlefin when the incident occurred.

His car left the road at Treanamullin, Stranorlar, at about 11pm.

Local county councillor Patrick McGowan said that the part of the road on which the young man was killed was a notorious accident black spot. He said he had lost count of times the ESB had had to replace poles from motorists striking them on the series of bends.
