GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING a series of late-night knife attacks carried out in Dublin city centre last weekend have made two arrests.
Three young men received slash wounds to their faces during three separate incidents on D'Olier Street and Fleet Street, near the Temple Bar area of Dublin, between 2.30am and 3am last Saturday.
The victims, all in their late teens or early 20s, appear to have been targeted at random by the attackers. None of the men received life-threatening injuries.
Due to the proximity of the attacks and the nature of the injuries inflicted, gardaí understood the same people were responsible for the incidents.
Yesterday morning investigating officers arrested two suspects in the Ballyfermot and Palmerstown areas of Dublin.
The men, aged 22 and 25, are being detained separately at Pearse Street and Harcourt Terrace Garda stations. They were being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, which allows them to be detained for 24 hours.
