Two appear in court over killing of Limerick man

Two men arrested on Friday night in connection with the killing of Kieran Keane in Limerick have appeared court this morning.

Two men arrested on Friday night in connection with the killing of Kieran Keane in Limerick have appeared court this morning.

Mr Keane (36) was killed on January 29th. He was shot in the head on a roadside in Drumbana just outside Limerick city with his hands tied behind his back. His nephew, Mr Owen Treacy, suffered serious stab wounds in the same incident.

Mr Dessie Dundon (20), from Hyde Road, Limerick, and Mr Anthony McCarthy (21) from the Fairgreen, Limerick, appeared in in Limerick District Court charged with falsely imprisoning Mr Keane and Mr Treacy.

They were refused bail and remanded in custody to reappear in court on April 3rd.

Gardaí arrested the men in Kilkenny, as they were travelling back to their homes in Limerick city. A third man arrested with them is being held over an unrelated matter.

Forty people have been detained in relation to the murder.
