British television presenter Mr Matthew Kelly is being questioned by detectives investigating allegations of sexual abuse against young boys.
The Stars In Their Eyeshost (52) was arrested at 6 p.m. yesterday by Surrey Police at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre where he had been appearing in pantomime.
The married father of two was driven 130 miles to Guildford police station, where he is being held in connection with allegations of sexual abuse against boys under 16 in the 1970s.
A second man, in his late fifties, was also arrested in connection with the same allegations at his home in Edinburgh. He has been named by police sources as Mr Tam Paton, former manager of the Bay City Rollers.
A police spokesman said: "Two men have been arrested . . . in connection with historic allegations of sexual abuse against boys under the age of 16 years old.
"The allegations relate to offences in the 1970s. They are not current offences and the allegation is not that they have been going on since then, but they relate to some specific incidents in the 1970s".
Police say the arrests are not connected to Operation Ore, an investigation by police into online paedophilia and indecent photographs of children.
