RTÉ broadcaster Ryan Tubridy is to take a pay cut, it was confirmed today.

Tubridy and 2FM presenter Gerry Ryan were the only two of the national broadcaster’s top paid presenters not to agree to a 10 per cent pay cut.

Eight others, including Late Latehost Pat Kenny radio presenter Marian Finucane, Prime Timepresenter Miriam O'Callaghan, sports commentator Eamon Dunphy and afternoon radio host Derek Mooney, have already agreed to the cuts as a contribution to bridging a shortfall in RTÉ's budget which is projected to reach €68 million this year.

Tubridy had previously blamed his personal legal situation for his inability to take the cut.

"Until now, I have not been in a position to take a pay cut in RTE. Thankfully, my legal situation has changed in recent days," he said.

The presenter has also made a donation to St Vincent de Paul.
