Trimble urged to resist `nay sayers'

Mr Joe Costello (Lab) said that Mr David Trimble had the opportunity to take a brave step for peace. "He has a chance to prove to the unionists that there is a bright future for their community, beyond the nay saying sectarianism promulgated by others. It will take leadership, it will take courage and I sincerely hope that David Trimble and his colleagues in the UUP will rise to the challenge presented by the latest proposals to fully implement the agreement."

Mr Shane Ross (Ind) said he felt the difficulties concerning the Belfast Agreement could be overcome if sufficient time was given to the participants. Drumcree last weekend was a demonstration of responsibility and restraint by all sides.
