Vladivostok - Russian journalist Grigory Pasko, who was acquitted of high treason in 1999, went on trial again yesterday accused of passing state secrets to Japan.
In 1999, a military court found Pasko, a navy captain, guilty of abusing his authority as an officer by handing over classified information. The case was reopened as Pasko objected to his conviction and prosecutors protested at both his release and his acquittal on the treason charge.
