RTE's annual P.J O'Connor Amateur Drama Festival Awards were presented yesterday to actors and producers from Limerick, Dublin and Wexford.
The P.J. O'Connor Trophy for overall excellence in performance and general excellence as a radio production went to the College Players, Limerick, for The Betrayed by Niall Moore.
It also picked up awards for best actress and best supporting actress for the same play.
Ms May O'Halloran was awarded best actress while the supporting actress award went to Ms Helen Hanrahan.
The Enniscorthy Players, Wexford, were presented with two awards. Mr Andy Doyle received the best actor award for his part in Stroke by Brian Comerford while Mr Pat Connaughton received the best producer award for the same play.
The best supporting actor award went to Mr Tony Proudfoot from the Coolmine Drama Circle, Dublin, for his role in Seats Upstairs by Kevin O'Sullivan.
Competition adjudicators were actor/producer and former head of RTE radio drama, Mr Frank O'Dwyer, actress Ms Deirdre Monaghan and editor of radio drama at RTE, Mr Laurence Foster.
