A three year old boy died and his parents were injured in a fire at a house in Finglas, Dublin yesterday afternoon

A three year old boy died and his parents were injured in a fire at a house in Finglas, Dublin yesterday afternoon. The boy's name was released last night as Dean Plummer. Details of the incident were still unclear last night and the house in Plunkett Crescent remained sealed off for forensic examination.

The boy, who was transferred by ambulance to Temple Street Hospital, was pronounced dead on arrival. His mother was moved to the burns unit of St James's Hospital last night, where her condition was said to be "critical." His father was moved to the Mater hospital band was discharged last night after treatment.

Meanwhile, a woman was critically ill after being rescued from a fire in a north Belfast house. Her husband and three year old granddaughter were also saved by police. Last night, a passing patrol saw the fire in Tennent Street, Shankill.
