Tiger Woods will make his first European appearance since the September 11th attacks when he competes in the Deutsche Bank Open at Heidelberg, Germany, in May.
It will be the fourth year running that the world's top golfer has played in the competition.
Woods won the event on his first appearance in 1999, lost out to Lee Westwood in 2000, and regained the title this year with a four-stroke victory over New Zealand’s Michael Campbell.
"I am looking forward to my fourth successive start and I will try to defend my title at the St Leon-Rot course," said Woods in a press statement released by the tournament organisers.
"It makes me happy that I can give my confirmation to start that early and I am already quite excited to see my fans and friends again in Germany".
Woods last played in Europe at the British Open in Lytham in July.
