After two days of subdued golf, Tiger Woods finally found his roar at the rain-hit New Zealand Open today.
Woods bounced back from a double-bogey six at the first to fire a four-under-par 67 and give himself an outside chance of catching the leaders in Sunday's final round of the one million dollar (430,000 US dollar) tournament.
His battling performance left him on a three-round total of 200, three under par and five behind the clubhouse leader, Michael Campbell.
Kiwi No.1 Campbell blasted through the back nine in 31 for a five-under-par 66 to move to eight under.
New Zealand's Steve Alker and Australian Stephen Leaney, two of 14 players unable to finish their rounds after a three-hour rain break in the afternoon, were both at nine under with, respectively, five and six holes to complete on Sunday morning.
Woods admitted he would be praying for more inclement weather on the last day to improve his chances of securing his first win down under.
"I need to go out there tomorrow and shoot a low number," he said.
"If I can get off to a better start than I did today, a positive start, then you never know.
