Gardai are seeking three men - thought to be Chinese - as part of their murder inquiry into the death of a Chinese national (22) earlier this month.
The officer leading the investigation, Supt John Manley, today issued a renewed appeal for information in relation to the death of Mr Chen Li Ming, who died from severe head injuries the day after he was discovered in a doorway on Captain's Lane, Crumlin, on October 9th.
Supt Manley said Mr Ming had been spotted at 2.30 a.m. leaving an Internet cafe in Dun Laoghaire with three Chinese men on the night of his death. He was next seen at 3.50 a.m. in Loughlin O'Toole Park in Crumlin where he appeared to be holding a jumper to his head.
Gardai are seeking to establish why Mr Ming - who lived in Bray, Co Wicklow, - was in the area and are particularly to hear from hackney and taxi drivers who may have seen the victim.
"There was no reason why he should have been in Crumlin as far as we can see," Supt Manley said.An earlier appeal to drivers who may have picked up Mr Ming did not turn up any new leads and Supt Manley has not ruled out the possibility the attackers had transport.
Mr Ling, who was in Ireland to study English, was attended to by ambulance staff after he made his way to a house in Captain's Lane at 4.50 a.m. He was taken to hospital but died two days' later.
Before he died, Mr Ming said he had been assaulted after a party, which gardai believe was hosted by a member of the Chinese community in Dun Laoghaire.
Supt Manley today renewed his appeal to members of the Chinese community to come forward with information.
